Privacy Policy

Coach is a chat app that gives candid advice from the POV of a curated set of people. It is a personal project run by Jatin Pandey. This policy explains what Coach collects, how it is used, and what it never does.

Google account data

If you choose Sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and a Google account ID with Coach. Coach uses them only to:

• show who is signed in, on your device;
• confirm your sign-in when you send a message on the free tier; and
• count how many free prompts your account has used, so the limit can be applied.

Your name, email address, and picture are kept only in your browser’s local storage. Coach’s server stores only your Google account ID and your count of free prompts used. Coach does not request access to your Gmail, contacts, files, or any other Google service. It does not sell, rent, or share Google user data, and does not use it for advertising or to train AI models.

Your messages

Coach doesn’t save your chats. When you send a message, it passes through Coach’s server to an AI provider, which writes the reply:

• free prompts go to OpenAI;
• if you use your own key, your messages go to the provider that key belongs to (Anthropic or OpenAI).

Coach does not store or log the content of your messages or replies. The provider handles them under its own policies, which may include keeping API data for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring. The conversation lives only in the open page and is gone when you close it, refresh it, or start a new chat.

Your API key

If you add your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, it is saved in your browser’s local storage. It is sent to Coach’s server with each message only so the server can pass it to that provider, and it is never stored or logged on the server. You can remove it at any time from the account menu or the key dialog.

Analytics and abuse prevention

• Coach uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to understand how the site is used.
• Your browser also keeps a random visitor ID, not linked to your name or email, which Coach uses to count how many visitors reach each step (for example, starting a chat or sending a prompt) and how many prompts each visitor sends.
• To prevent abuse, Coach’s server briefly keeps your IP address alongside a request count, for about a minute.

Retention and deletion

Free-prompt counts and anonymous analytics counts are kept for as long as Coach runs. To have the count tied to your Google account deleted, send a request through the contact link below. To clear what’s stored on your device, sign out, remove your key, or clear this site’s data in your browser. You can also remove Coach’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings.
